SHOW ME THE MONEY!!!!!!
An Adaptation from George Tiberius Davis
In the “Truth #11” I, your democratically self - appointed
King, asked the IBT to “Show me the money!” After receiving no reply I
wondered, “How then can I attempt to do so? One of my wise old servant
followers told me to try LM2’s “Your King Does Not Smoke!” I incorrectly and
hastily responded, as I proudly, most often do. He informed me they were
financial reports not cigarettes.
“Ahh… yes”, financial reports. Immediately recalling my studies at the
Tiberius W-Horton is a Hoo School of Business, I dug right in. “Patience my
trusty servants”, my finding are as follows.
I quickly realized if
I totally ignored the “Receipts and Disbursements” statement of the LM2 I had a
much better chance of making AMFA look somewhat financially respectable. “For
I, your trusted King, found it much better to just ignore the real income
statements, the actual monies that came in each year and went out each
year!” “I found it much more appealing
to just take the “Assets” statements at year end and divide by the total
members.” “Besides, as you will later see, negative numbers don’t divvy up
well.”
Genius you say, I know. That way I could use numbers that
represent buildings, furniture, automobiles and land to be divided among my
Kingdom! “Please don’t be startled by the fact AMFA’s LM2 revealed no land, no
automobiles and no buildings!” I your democratically self-appointed King allow
all meetings to be held in the Kingdom Court Yard. “Yes, many Jesters will
attend”
“What, you ask would a true study of the real blood lines of
both Unions, you know t money that comes in each year and goes out each year to
truly represent the membership, have revealed?” “Shame on you for questioning
your King, but here are the numbers.”
The IBT local had total receipts of just over 7.8 M and
total disbursements of just over7.9M of which 1.5M was paid to assist the
International to help better serve the members with things like strike benefits
and real lobbying efforts to name a few. Oh yeah, there was also over 1.2M paid
in benefits as well and still the IBT local just about broke even.
For the same year the AMFA local had just over 1.2M in
receipts and just less than 1.7M in disbursements. About 70K went to benefits.
There were no per capita taxes to help with any strike funds. Strike, you say,
you King would never allow that again after AMFA’s leadership walked NWA off
the cliff. Political lobbying you ask, AMFA spent just over 20K. What, you
don’t think 20K will make the politicians look? So, yes, yes your King admits,
had I done it this way AMFA loss over a half a million in the same year the IBT
broke even and AMFA barely compared to them in representation spending.
Wait,
stop, your King has titled his papers “The Truth”. I will not, continue such
circulation if I am going to have the truth tainted by any facts. “This I
Promise!”
