BELOW IS THE TRUTH ON HOW AMFA PROTECTS JOBS

Your contract on pg.3.12 top para. covers "system
layoff protection". It clearly states that 12 months after the amendable
date your layoff protection expires. Whether or not you're actively engaged in
negotiations you will not have any protection after May 2006. If the time frame
of May 11,2001 through 12 months after the amendable date were not written in
your contract then "chrome dome's" statement would be correct.(You
would work under the status quo. rules.) Obviously nobody paid much attention
to this fact until now. This is one of those items that needs to be addressed
in the next contract. I'm not trying to point fingers or prove somebody wrong.
I'm just stating a fact. Thanks for the space T.M.

I would like to thank the above poster. It is about time
someone actually understands just how horrific that scope language and job
security language was written. I do disagree however that it is no big deal and
it is something that we must address next negotiations. I fear we will not be
able to address it. NWA has made it clear they wish to operate like a low cost
carrier. AMFA made it possible with that language. They didn't think it would
happen under the "exception language" or happen as fast as it did,
nevertheless that doesn't excuse this industry leading sell-out language.
"12 months after the amendable date" this is equivalent to saying,
help us now and we will let you butcher this work force 5 years from now. That
is more than a disgrace; it is everything Unions have stood against for years.

Your post is nonsense. Note the result of IAM 'no layoff
while outsourcing' language below. I have grown weary of dishonest and arrogant
IAM/NWA cult members claiming that NWA Mechanics are somehow more furloughed
than other furloughed Mechanics...such as I. There is not one NWA Mechanic more
'laid-off' than any other laid-off Mechanic in this industry...period. - TM

Hey Dennis whats your point? The above poster is absolutely
correct. AMFA sold out the future worker at NWA. What does the IAM agreement
have to do with you and all you other cool-aid drinkers excepting the fact that
AMFA spells "jobs lost". You crack me up, its like I get arrested for
shooting someone to death and I claim "hey the other guys killed someone
too, and he shot 5 more times than me". Who care, maybe the NWA mechanics
aren't any more laid off than the IAM mechanics but at least the other techs
still working aren't under a 38% layoof allowance.
1) Furloughed NWA Mechanics were receiving much higher pay
and better benefits than furloughed UAL, USAir and AA Mechanics prior to being
laid-off.
2) Remaining coworkers of NWA Mechanics continue to receive
much higher pay and better benefits than remaining Mechanics at other carriers.
Teamster 'represented' carriers such as CAL, of course, have
ALREADY reached an embarrassingly low 'Mechanics per Aircraft' level.
All else is 'smoke and mirrors.' - TM

My God, you are worse than president Bush when it comes to
blantantly assuming the average American is ignorant. Those who were employed
at NWA enjoyed a good wage and those who were fortunate enough not to get sold
out are still making a good wage. How could any Union take that approach, is
there any solidarity for the junior techs, is there any cause to keep and
increase jobs with AMFA. You guys are despicable.
As for CAL, this is just another attempt to hide the
horrific scope language negotiated by AMFA. CAL lost all there work to
outsourcing long before the IBT was ever voted in, in fact the technician
headcount has increased by 10-15% since 1999. Funny, I don't think you could
say th4e same for NWA.
